Main duties of the job
An opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Obstetrician to join our maternity team at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust with around 4600 births per year. The post holder will have experience in Obstetrics with an interest in Maternal Medicine in particular Maternal Diabetes and Endocrinology. They may also have additional experience in other specialist areas to meet the needs of the department. The purpose of this post is to provide strong professional clinical leadership in the Diabetes and Endocrine Antenatal Service as well as working closely with the Maternal Medicine Service.The post holder will be the lead for Diabetes and Endocrinology in pregnancy. They will be responsible for developing the service, supporting multi-professional training and ensuring guidance is up to date.
About us
The post holder would be expected to attend MDTs with various specialities as well as the high risk obstetric anaesthetic MDT to ensure both safe and holistic care is offered to our women and their families. They would also support the Maternal Medicine Lead to provide care and management advice for women with medical conditions admitted to hospital as well as those who develop acute conditions requiring maternal medicine input.
We are searching for a highly motivated individual to join a committed and passionate team. Personal and professional development and leadership training will be given and in return you will be pivotal in supporting the team to provide high quality woman centred care.
Kingston Hospital has an enthusiastic Trust Research lead and team that actively supports CRN projects, Principal Investigators and recruitment into multicentre trials. There is a strong maternity education team, facilitating MDT training and working. This post holder will be expected to take a hands approach to consultant presence on labour ward and contribute to our out of hours labour ward and emergency gynaecology cover.
