Job Description

- Responsible for the mechanical upkeep of equipment and structures, such as:
- Mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic inspections/repairs.
- Repairs to hydraulic lines, valves, cylinders, pumps and gears.
- Repairs to gear reducers, fans, bearings, clutches, wheels, brakes chains, piping, drums, cables and sheaves.
- Sheet metal repairs.
- Replace wire ropes
- Steel layout and fabrication.
- Performs millwright tasks, such as leveling, aligning and installing machinery, aligning electric motors and installing couplings. Repairs/rebuilds mechanical drive systems such as gear boxes, brakes, air, hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Performs miscellaneous burning, welding, and other assigned tasks.
- Troubleshoots, repairs or rebuilds diesel engines. Report any equipment which requires repair or maintenance to the immediate supervisor.
- Repairs and replaces air, hydraulic and electrical systems, braking and mechanical drive systems.
- Willing and able to repair equipment to eliminate the cause of downtime and its recurrence. Consult with supervisor and set up preventive maintenance procedures. Capable of resolving all problems relating to mechanical parameters.
- Assist in the training of other employees on the finer points of the mechanical trade and practices requiring the highest skill and knowledge.
- Plans, selects and orders materials, tools, and equipment necessary for jobs.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
- Steel fabrication and mechanical aptitude Required
- Experience in mechanical equipment maintenance Required
- Required High School Diploma Or equivalent
- TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential
- Driver's License - Valid state driver's license

JOB OVERVIEW:Under the supervision of EMT Foreman, the Crane Mechanic performs assigned tasks in an efficient and safe manner to maintain ship to shore container cranes, rubber tire gantry cranes and other mechanical equipment and structures for exceptional operation.

JOB DUTIES:
JOB REQUIREMENTS:Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to work well with other employees necessary.Ability and willingness to climb and work at high elevations up to 200ft is required.Perform manual labor involving lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, kneeling, climbing, walking, pushing, and pulling. May require maneuvering heavy parts.Able to read blueprints and interpret technical manuals.Vision requirements: Visual acuity of 20/40 with or without corrective lenses for each eye, minimum depth perception of 6/9, and minimum peripheral vision of 70 degrees for each eye.The ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with the GPA staff on all levels of administration including immediate supervisor, management and co-workers required.Ability to operate welding machines, burning machines, forklift, mechanical hand tools, etc., safely and efficientlyExperience
