What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Accurately post data (payments, adjustments) as needed
- Communicate problems hindering workflow to management
- Resolve patient billing and third-party payer concerns
- Interview and counsel patients for payment arrangements and/or charity assistance
- Answer patient questions quickly, accurately, and courteously
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a healthcare setting
- Minimum of one (1) year previous customer service experience
- Knowledge of third-party payers, collection laws, and collection procedures required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Understanding of ICS-9 and CPT coding
- Specialized courses or seminars directly related to collections or the medical field
- Familiarity with the Fair Debt Collection Act
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
