      We are looking for a Deputy Clinical Nurse Manager to join the BPAS Doncaster unit with travel and cover when required for BPAS York. This is a full time role working flexibly over Monday to Saturday.

      BPAS Doncaster is a large and busy unit that offers a range of reproductive health services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing and contraception.

      The role

      As the Deputy Clinical Nurse Manager you will support the day-to-day running of the unit. You will co-ordinate, implement and maintain high standards of client care within the treatment unit including managing and motivating a team of clinicians.

      You will deputise in the absence of a Clinical Nurse Manager and ensure clinical areas are managed in a professional manner to ensure high standards of client care.

      This is a varied and fast paced role that involves routinely working clinically in all areas of the unit including the operating department.

      About You

      You will be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife that is looking to progress within a clinical management role. You will have willingness to undertake training to enable you to work within all areas of the unit including theatre. You'll have some experience of team management including selection, recruitment, sickness and performance management and be willing to develop in this area.

      Main duties of the job

      • Support the day-to-day running of the unit.
      • Oversee the work of all staff in the clinical team to deliver a high professional standard of client care in accordance with BPAS and NMC/GMC Guidelines for Professional Practice, delegating responsibilities as appropriate.
      • Participate in the recruitment process for new clinical staff, monitor employee performance and performance manage staff when necessary.
      • To ensure all clinical staff are undertaking continuing professional development (and other activities such as Midwife supervision) as required by the professional body, e.g. NMC.
      • Participate in clinical audits and record, report, initiate and participate in investigation processes.
      • To ensure the clinical team are trained and able to implement emergency procedures correctly and efficiently.
      • Complete documentation relating to the provision of client care.
      • To maintain client confidentiality and security.

      We are also looking for:

      • Knowledge of the NMC/HPCP/GMC codes of conduct, as well as Clinical Governance and Health & Safety, COSSH requirements and the Health and Social Care Act.
      • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal and be able to communicate at all levels of a unit
      • Leadership and motivational skills, with a positive attitude towards change
