- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
- Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or equivalent leading to Health Professions Council (HCPC) Registration as a Dietitian
- Working knowledge of a range of clinical conditions and the current evidence-base for Dietetic practice
- Basic competence in assessing patients' requirements and developing nutritional care plans
- Basic competence for enteral feeding, enteral feeding products, equipment and regimens
- Basic competence to interpret anthropometrical and biochemical data to adjust dietetic interventions appropriately
- Recognises the need for and demonstrates a professional appearance appropriate to the client group
- Required to concentrate for long periods of time in a routine and unpredictable work situations
- Ability to work flexibly and comply with travel requirements of the post

Job summary
Do you want to work as a dietitian in the community? No experience but enthusiastic to experience how dietitians have an impact in primary care in the community?
This is an exciting dietetic opportunity for anyone passionate about working in the community. Making a difference to people's lives in the context of nutrition support, home enteral feeding, weight management and gastroenterology.
Here at Lancashire and South Cumbria we are a small, very friendly hard working team with varied specialisms throughout; of all bands including Dietetic Assistant practitioners.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly dietitian to become part of the Community Dietetic Team delivering community healthcare around Central Lancashire. The permanent post will be based at Minerva Health Centre in Preston but flexibility to work and travel around the area is required including the ability to work remotely for some of the time. If you are new to community do not worry! We offer a mentoring and clinical supervision programme with an experienced clinician for those new to community work.

The successful candidate will gain invaluable experience working in nutrition support, home enteral feeding, and gastroenterology and weight management. You will be expected to have a strong commitment to ongoing professional and personal development. We recognise these roles will support place based care and be aligned to localities.

The department has excellent IT facilities with good clerical support across the Preston, Chorley and South Ribble locality.
The department is involved in the training of Dietetic students with the University of Chester.
Preston city and our surrounding areas have good motorway and train links to Greater Manchester including the cities of Manchester, Salford and Liverpool. The Greater Manchester and Liverpool areas are rich in sport and cultural activities. Beautiful countryside is easily reached for those who like the outdoors.
