Digital Manufacturing Intern
The purpose of this internship will be to employ curious and self-motivated engineering students to use data and analysis tools to support Owens Corning manufacturing processes and assets. A successful candidate for this role would be an engineering student who has skills in problem solving, communication, pattern recognition, data manipulation, teamwork, and an interest in learning about OC manufacturing processes. Team members will learn how to combine the use of new and existing digital tools in combination with their own existing skills and perspectives to improve how Owens Corning uses data to support manufacturing operations. The team will work across the enterprise in three focus areas: Asset Health, Process Control, and Process Optimization.
The role will be based at the Granville Science and Tech Center, with some flexibility for remote work. The intern would be responsible for data gathering and processing information for multiple sites across the three Owens Corning businesses, in diverse geographic and process areas. Regular collaboration with subject matter experts and plant engineers will provide excellent learning opportunities.
A typical day for this role would start with a review of data for assigned processes and assets to identify potential anomalies, and then gathering additional relevant data before collaborating with subject matter experts and plant engineers to develop recommended action plans (40%). The candidate will also continue to build and add data monitoring capabilities or update existing systems to broaden the available areas under their responsibility (30%). The intern will also spend time evaluating the existing digital tools, exploring new tools to support data-driven decision making, examining the workflow processes in place (25%). The remaining time will be spent supporting SME’s in examining data from escalation events, learning OC processes, and building relationships across sites and businesses, and participating in root cause discussions.

Location & Availability: Interns would have the opportunity to work out of our Granville, OH Science and Technology Center during their internship. Remote opportunities may also be available for candidates that would be unable to relocate. Availability include Spring and Summer terms.
