- Provide strategic and tactical planning, development and coordination of the Engineering department. Prioritize and develop the scope of Engineering projects. Oversee the operations of the product line engineering divisions through the Product Line Engineering Managers.
- Ensure the Engineering department is producing designs that allow product lines to meet profit objectives, are equal or better than the competition, manufacturing friendly, cost-effective and limit warranty expenses.
- Supply information to Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Warranty, Supply Chain and Service to help those departments in their decision making processes.
- Establish and implement department policies in the form of Engineering Standards for legal compliance, design safety, product reliability, and record keeping for the purpose of risk management and loss prevention.
- Ensure Engineering is providing timely and accurate bills of material and drawings.
- Organize the Engineering department structure and staffing to meet Wilson Trailer’s current and future needs. Train, develop and mentor members of the Engineering team.
- Operate the Engineering department as efficiently as possible. Provide annual budget and controls expenses.
- Represent Wilson Trailer as the chief technical specialist in its relationships with customers, suppliers, professional societies, law suits, etc.
- Keep informed of new developments in the trailer industry, legal requirements, Engineering methods, and technology.
Wilson Trailer Company is looking for a future Director of Engineering! Wilson Trailer is a manufacturer of grain, livestock, flatbed and gooseneck trailers.
The Director of Engineering provides vision and leadership in the development and operation of the Engineering department. Ensure product designs are legal, safe, competitive and profitable. Align engineering activities and projects with company goals and objectives, provide expert guidance and support, create and enforce departmental policies and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external customers. If you have experience as an Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Design Engineer, you will be a good fit.
Essential Functions include:
Prefer 10 years of experience, have or able to get a Professional Engineer Certification, and prefer a mechanical engineer designation.
Travel is required with a valid driver's license.
