      Remote location in either WI or CA (Tulare)

      + Travel requirement: 50%+ (domestic & international)

      How You Will Make Contributions That Matter:

      • Provide technical whey and powdered ingredient solutions to support all Saputo divisions where whey operations are located.
      • Safekeep industry and Saputo best practices relative to manufacturing, sanitary design, and food safety standards. Disseminate & share such information & knowledge throughout the company.
      • Participate in the design and review of new equipment and process installations and assure that they will deliver expected quality, volume and yields as per Saputo expectations and standards. Propose appropriate process and equipment modifications or design options to operations and engineering teams.
      • Identify potential issues and bring them to the forefront to initiate design and engineering processes.
      • Improve the understanding of plant workforce relative to both process and equipment design and cleaning procedures.
      • Act as a business partner across the Company’s whey operational sites through troubleshooting & problem solving. Lead root cause analyzes (RCAs) of functionality and quality issues.
      • Assist the Continuous Improvement teams in identifying opportunities for the betterment of the business.
      • Help source food grade ingredients for the powder manufacturing plants, such as: processing aids, lecithin, etc.
      • Reduce business risk by controlling & mitigating operational gaps/discrepancies through improved preparation, planning & commissioning of projects efficiently.
      • Use a logically based approach & methodology to reduce audits, findings & operational risks.
      • Mentor operational employees as needed & required to ensure understanding of best practices & compliance.
      • Reduce costs & improve yields across the whey operational sites by leading improvement of processing technologies and practices through training, automation & rethinking current practices.
      • Facilitate initiatives to improve planning, scheduling of production runs, cleaning in place (CIP) activities, packaging materials, stock keeping units (SKUs), or unplanned production shutdowns.
      • Lead resource conservation efforts by guiding the reuse of wastewater or treated water.

      You are best suited for the role if you…

      • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Dairy or Food Science with a major in Microbiology or Chemistry.
      • Possess 5-7 years of related manager or director level experience in a dairy (liquid or powder) whey producing plant or operation.
      • Possess knowledge & understanding of microbiology & chemistry pertaining to the interactions of proteins, minerals & functional/nutritional ingredients in whey products - is a plus.
      • Possess knowledge & work experience in membrane fractionation, evaporation, drying of dairy liquids, whey product packaging, dairy cleaning equipment & understanding of whey equipment that produces nutritional food ingredients.
      • Ability to analyze complex production data, trends & discrepancies that may cause production or quality issues & find solutions to resolve.
      • Possess a domestic & international network resources (both within academia & industry) – is a plus.
      • Results & detail-oriented with a strong passion for creativity & innovation within a complex tech-driven food manufacturing environment.
      • Possess a dynamic, flexible, proactive approach & ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations within strict deadlines.
      • Ability to lead by example to influence teams efficiently & move operational improvements forward through supportive teamwork & team building methodology across whey manufacturing sites in the U.S. & the organization’s international divisions.
      • Ability to coach & provide guidance to assure consistency across operational business practices for the betterment of business successes.
      • Possess strong, collaborative interpersonal skills with the ability to influence with integrity through clear & persuasive communication to gain support of teams across domestic & international divisions from senior leadership team members to various cross-functional teams across the organization, such as: Engineering, Reasearch & Development (R&D), Production, etc.
      • Possess strong project management skills to prioritize, assure follow-ups & respect of deliverables within short deadlines.
      • Possess a high level of professionalism to seek innovative solutions, drive continuous improvement of ingredients, semi-finished and finished products.
      • Possess forward-thinking skills & a creative mindset for troubleshooting & design purposes.
      • Ability to travel a minimum of 50% to all domestic & international locations, as requested, to support whey producing operations (i.e., Canada, Argentina, Australia, U.K.)
      • Possess excellent soft skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint)

      Salary Range: $117,480 - $155,000

      Salary offers will vary commensurate with experience, education, skills, and training.
