- Supervises, assists, and develops sales representatives in effectively identifying sales opportunities within existing customer base.
- Advises sales reps on best practices in promoting and selling company products, programs, and services in order to take advantage of those opportunities.
- Monitors competitive activity and develops/implements new sales techniques to take advantage of competitor weaknesses. Instrumental in driving new account prospecting and development.
- Facilitates the working relationship between the Sales Representative and Business Development Manager.
- Plans, forecasts, and reports on sales, costs, and business performance, according to company requirements.
- Recruits, hires, manages, motivates, coaches, trains and develops staff according to company policies and employment laws and regulations and ensures that all company and Human Resources procedures are followed.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested to support the successful conduct of business.
- Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written forms, including spreadsheet and computer presentations.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement a range of sales and marketing programs.
- Knowledge of the retail hardware, retail lumber and building material industry's concepts, practices, procedures, and techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and abilities.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
- Five to ten years of experience in the hardlines industry and a thorough knowledge of the wholesale or retail hardware, lumber, and building material industry's concepts, practices, and procedures required.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Frequent travel is required.
