- Assists with troubleshooting and correcting any areas of concern related to facility operations.
- Works with Operations to develop, engineer, and implement projects within operating facilities.
- Provides, or works in conjunction with field personnel to provide, cost estimates, capital budgets, and AFE preparation for pipeline, plant, and station construction projects.
- Assists in oversight of contract engineering companies of detailed design, engineering, and scheduling for assigned projects; prepares specifications for materials and construction.
- Ensures compliance with applicable design codes and standards (ANSI B 31.3, ANSI B 31.8, ASME Section VIII, DOT 192, etc.).
- Evaluates supplier and contractor bids and proposals for assigned projects; makes recommendations for contractor and supplier agreements for management approval; monitors those suppliers and contractors as they perform their duties.
- Ensures project oversight, cost control, accounting, and documentation during construction.
- Maintains current and accurate system maps, as-built drawings, and project records.
- Monitors operations after project completion, troubleshooting, and correcting any areas of concern.
- Performs studies and assists with the implementation of efforts to optimize company assets.
- Works with Operations, Engineering, EHS, Accounting, Business Development, Gas Control, Land and Right of Way, External Customers, Codes and Standards, and other internal departments to maintain and improve the integrity of the company’s infrastructure by monitoring, completing studies and reviews, assessing risk / benefits, generate recommendations and develop projects, quality assurance programs, etc. as required to achieve the task.
- Performs root cause and failure analysis for a range of gas operations equipment while also assisting/leading return to service efforts.
- Manages multiple capital and maintenance projects with various deadlines and responsibility levels. Such projects include pipeline integrity inspection, remediation, testing and repair projects; pipeline construction, replacement & abandonment projects; and pipeline facility projects involving compression, pumps, automation and controls, measurement, corrosion mitigation, gas processing, encroachments.
- Generate project alternatives, cost estimates, secure project funding, accurately track and forecast project expenses, submit project closure documentation.
- Develops project scope documents, schedules, contractor bid documents, manage the bid process including job showing, select contractor, select and requisition materials, coordinate permitting, manage contractor activities and other project activities.
- Applies the company's design and operating philosophy within the field locations to meet corporate goals for safety, regulatory compliance, efficiency, and profitability.
- Reviews and manages projects in terms of economics, OSHA Safety, Kinder Morgan Engineering Standards, Construction Standards, and Operating and Maintenance Procedures
- Travel estimated from 30 to 40% of the time to field sites and offices with occasional overnight stays. Some overtime and after-hours work will be required.
- Requirement to carry a company-provided cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
- Provide engineering support to Operations on a daily basis.
- Effectively prioritize workload between multiple projects.
- Ability to take on new projects and shift priorities on short notice

This Pipeline Engineer position is based out of Kinder Morgan’s New Caney, TX Operations office located at 17057 FM 1485, New Caney, TX 77357. This position primarily supports our Southern Natural Gas (SNG), Tennessee Gas Pipeline (TGP), Natural Gas Pipeline of America (NGPL), Tejas Gas Pipeline, Kinder Morgan Louisiana Pipeline (KMLP) facilities and pipelines in Louisiana and northeast Texas.

Summary:
Responsible for performing engineering duties and overseeing projects in support of the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and construction of natural gas pipelines, compressor stations, gas plants, and treating facilities. Additionally, the individual will be a technical resource to the region in support of pipelines and may support measurement, corrosion, process, pipeline, and compression activities.
