      Abraham Joshua Heschel School is seeking a part-time Early Childhood Learning Specialist for the 2026-27 school year. Grounded in deep respect and appreciation for each child, we pave the way for students to grow and thrive in the early years of their learning journeys. The Early Childhood Learning Specialist will work with classroom teachers (primarily in kindergarten) to understand and meet students’ unique capabilities and areas for growth. The ideal candidate will be empathetic, playful, innovative, detail-oriented, and a strong problem solver. We are looking for a flexible educator who can work collaboratively and communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents, and administrators. This position will report to the Early Childhood Head.


      Key Responsibilities:

      • Providing direct academic support to students (pushing in to classrooms and pulling out small groups/individual learners)

      • Developing and implementing enrichment activities to deepen language, literacy, and math learning

      • Observing and assessing students’ learning to generate supportive plans and accommodations

      • Working with teachers to implement best practices for differentiated instruction during lessons

      • Serving as a resource for faculty to better understand and meet diverse learning needs and styles

      • Creating tools and games to reinforce classroom learning

      • Meeting with teachers and Early Childhood Leadership Team to discuss student learning and support

      • Communicating concerns, goals, and progress with faculty and families

      • Preparing at-home review packets for students

      • Researching and presenting professional development to faculty on differentiated instruction

      • Helping to coordinate student support services

      • Reading and editing anecdotal reports about students


      Qualifications:

      • Master’s in Special Education/Learning Disabilities/Literacy Specialist or related field

      • Experience working with range of learners in Early Childhood/Elementary settings

      • Training in Orton Gillingham (structured, multisensory phonetic approach)

      • Familiarity with Fundations and Singapore Math Curriculum

      • Understanding of effective Early Childhood pedagogy and evidence-based intervention strategies

      • Knowledge of Hebrew (preferred)

      • Availability three full days a week
