- Synthesize and summarize relevant research literature
- Create technical framework for improvement projects (logic models, driver diagrams, conceptual models, system maps, process maps)
- Develop measurable aims with key performance indicators; design data collection instruments (protocols, rubrics, assessments, surveys, etc.) and plans (stratification, sampling options, frequency, duration) Collect qualitative data through surveys, interviews, think-alouds, classroom observations, and assessments; document decision-making processes; analyze artifacts
- Code, score, visualize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data (e.g., run charts, control charts, funnel plots, time series, intervention analysis, regression, factor analysis, social network analysis, propensity score modeling)
- Produce timely reports documenting changes tested and outcomes obtained, including concise, intuitive visual displays and summaries of findings
- Guide teams in valid interpretation and collaborative decision-making based on research Present results in oral and written form to academic, practitioner, and policy audiences

- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. / B.S) from an accredited college or university; advanced degree preferred
- Two (2) years of professional-level experience in a large, urban school district, or human resources department, or other educational setting
- An unwavering commitment to equity and excellence in serving all students, facility with systems thinking, appreciation and respect for the strengths and perspectives of diverse stakeholders, openness to exploring and iterating on new ideas, and disciplined inquiry in applying measurement for improvement
- Outstanding active listening skills to sensitively elicit and address stakeholders’ concerns in collaborating on improvement projects
- Ability to skillfully build the capability in professionals to lead, innovate, and collaborate in the conduct of improvement work
- Strong quantitative and/or qualitative analytic skills
- Experience conducting formative and summative evaluations for external stakeholders, and/or leading continuous improvement projects
- Professional experience in PK-12 education
- Deep knowledge of education research, education policy, or the learning sciences in an area of specialization such as teachers’ professional development, school organization, curricular and pedagogical innovation, etc., especially from an equity lens
- Strategic leadership and management experience; in a K-12 public educational setting preferred

As the 1809 Educational Policy Analyst, you will be a member of the African American Achievement & Leadership (AAALI) Team in the Office of the Superintendent. This team is charged with supporting and monitoring the implementation of the SFUSD’s Board of Education Policy promoting African American achievement and leadership and with building strong partnerships with the African American youth, families, and community leaders. AAALI works cross-functionally with SFUSD departments and in collaboration with African American students, families, educators, and community-based organizations to develop specific strategies in support of African American achievement. AAALI is committed to raising expectations for and belief in African American student achievement, engaging, affirming, and empowering African American students and families, coordinating comprehensive wraparound support for African American students, and ensuring African American students receive culturally responsive, rigorous instruction.
