      Engineering Subject Matter Specialist
      Position Overview
      The Engineering Subject Matter Specialist (SME) provides advanced technical expertise and analysis for highly specialized applications and operational environments. This position is responsible for performing high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation, and implementation support for exceptionally complex technical challenges requiring extensive subject matter knowledge.
      The Engineering SME supports the full system and software development lifecycle and serves as a trusted advisor to program stakeholders, providing engineering insight and recommendations to ensure effective implementation and mission success. Emphasis is placed on planning, analysis, modeling, simulation, testing, integration, documentation, and presentation activities.
      Responsibilities
      • Provide technical expertise and analytical support for highly specialized engineering applications and operational environments.
      • Perform high-level functional systems analysis, engineering assessments, and solution design activities.
      • Develop recommendations and implementation strategies for complex engineering and operational challenges.
      • Support systems engineering, integration, and validation efforts to ensure alignment with mission requirements.
      • Participate throughout the software development lifecycle with emphasis on:
        • Planning and requirements analysis
        • Engineering modeling and simulation
        • System testing and validation
        • Integration activities
        • Technical documentation development
        • Briefings and presentations to stakeholders
      • Analyze system performance and recommend enhancements to improve functionality, reliability, and operational effectiveness.
      • Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, and presentation materials.
      • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, program personnel, and customer stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of engineering solutions.
      • Provide subject matter expertise and advisory support for complex technical initiatives and emerging requirements.
      • Assist in evaluating technologies, architectures, and engineering approaches to support mission objectives.
      • Support risk identification, mitigation planning, and resolution of technical issues.
      Required Qualifications
      • Demonstrated expertise in engineering principles, systems analysis, and operational environments.
      • Experience supporting system design, integration, testing, and implementation efforts.
      • Knowledge of software development lifecycle processes and engineering methodologies.
      • Experience with engineering modeling and simulation activities.
      • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
      • Ability to develop and present technical documentation and briefings to technical and non-technical audiences.
      • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
      Desired Qualifications
      • Experience supporting Federal Government or Department of Defense programs.
      • Familiarity with systems engineering processes and industry best practices.
      • Experience with requirements analysis, architecture development, and technical evaluations.
      • Knowledge of modeling, simulation, and systems integration methodologies.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers, stakeholders, and technical teams.
      Security Requirements
      • Must possess an IT-II / Tier 3 / NACLC / ANACI security clearance, or
      • Must have a current National Agency Check with Local Agency Check and Credit Check (NACLC) at the time of proposal submission.
