- Provides general supervision over routine, specialized, and emergency custodial and maintenance activities
- Assigns, delegates, supervises, schedules and inspects the work of subordinate staff
- Recommends hires and promotions, directs and evaluates employment decisions for all assigned positions
- Maintains operations in compliance with applicable state and federal laws
- Monitors approved budget throughout the year
- Maintains safety of staff through training programs
- Develops departmental policies and procedures, as well as quality improvement plans and monitoring tools
- Maintains inventory and par levels
- Inspects building and evaluates the quantity and quality of work performed
- Prepares requisitions for necessary supplies
- Evaluates and recommends the purchase of new equipment, supplies and/or maintenance and repair work
- Meets with vendors and tests new products
- Coordinates the ordering of supplies and commodities in accordance with DuPage County Procurement Ordinance
- Investigates and responds to customer complaints in a professional and timely manner, involving Director as appropriate
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in an institutional, governmental, or commercial building in a housekeeping or other custodial maintenance role
- Three (3) years in a supervisory role
- Must possess and maintain in good standing, a valid Illinois driver’s license.
- Prior experience supervising or managing housekeeping, environmental services, or custodial teams in a long-term care, skilled nursing, or healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control practices as they relate to environmental services including cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitation protocols
