Job Description

- Operates and maintains a variety of motorized equipment used in mowing, runway rubber removal, airfield painting, snow removal, waste management, concrete and asphalt repair and other needs as required.
- Maintains the grounds and airfield to ensure the grass, paint markings, security fence, runways, taxiways, and roadways are safe for travel, including taking care of debris.
- Performs pre-trip inspections of equipment; and reports needs for repair to supervisor.
- Assists with setup and teardown for most airport events such as the Plane Pull, Walks for events and Holiday events.
- Assists in reading and replacing water meters.
- Assists the electricians with changing lights on runway, changing lights on parking deck and repairing gates.
- Aids various other departments; and assists emergency services with car accidents and fuel spills.
- Performs additional related work as required.

- Minimum: $20.47
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of experience in the operation of motorized construction/mowing equipment, completion of a vocational operator’s program, or 2 years labor experience.
- Valid NC Driver’s License
- CDL class B License (or ability to obtain within 9 months)
- Traffic laws and regulations governing equipment operation.
- Occupational hazards and safety precautions for operating large equipment.
- Minor asphalt, concrete, utilities, and electrical repair work

- Work is predominantly performed outdoors in potentially adverse conditions on uneven ground in all types of weather. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, and intense noises as well as gases and workspace restrictions.
- Positions in this class typically require typing, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, sitting, walking and repetitive motions. The position involves heavy physical demands, such as exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

The Equipment Operator supports the Airport Authority Field Maintenance by operating motorized equipment related to construction and maintenance of airfields, roadways, decks, parking lots, airport grounds and infrastructure, and mowing. This position is responsible for inspecting, providing preventative maintenance, and occasionally repairing equipment when required.
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Equipment Operator supports the Airport Authority Field Maintenance by operating motorized equipment related to construction and maintenance of airfields, roadways, decks, parking lots, airport grounds and infrastructure, and mowing. This position is responsible for inspecting, providing preventative maintenance, and occasionally repairing equipment when required. Initially, this will be a 2nd shift position, from 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm, Sunday – Thursday (days off: Friday and Saturday).
