Job Description

- Internal audit or regulatory assurance or advisory work experience
- Strong knowledge of the UK regulatory environment generally and ESG specifically
- Have undertaken ESG assurance and/or advisory assignments and have an understanding of review methodologies and techniques including assignment planning
- Strong written / communication skills, ability to influence, lead, engage, and manage stakeholders
- Ability to lead complex reviews and be a team player
- Understanding of risk management and internal control
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner
- Strong project management skills and a track record of successful delivery
- Expertise in leading teams successfully.

You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. ESG is a key element of our offering to our clients with a focused RAS ESG team, working with the central ESG Hub. It is also important to us as a firm, in the lead-up to COP26, BDO globally committed to going Net Zero by 2050 or sooner and our “Unifying Culture” priorities are Be Yourself, Wellbeing and Citizenship, all of which address important ‘S’ agendas.
Your role is all about delivering ESG assurance and advice to clients operating in a range of sectors. It is an opportunity for someone with strong assurance and consulting skills to direct them towards supporting our clients in achieving their ESG objectives. Building on your existing knowledge of ESG, we will invest in developing your understanding of what it really means for our client’s businesses so that you can deliver assurance and advice that is meaningful to our clients and fulfilling to you.
The types of work will be predominantly ESG-related Third Party Assurance engagements conducted in accordance with ISAE 3000 and ISAE3410 but also providing advisory support to clients implementing and improving their ESG arrangements. You will be leading some projects and supporting on others, and have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients. You will play an important role in developing and maintaining deep client relationships and in developing members of the BDO team. You will have the opportunity to further develop specialist sub sector, technical and regulatory knowledge and be involved in both business and team development.
