      This position will be located at the headquarter office in downtown Madison ( 201 E. Washington Ave. ) The candidate selected for this position will have the option to work a hybrid-remote schedule. Further information regarding remote work will be discussed during the interview stage. Remote work options are subject to change.

      Position Summary

      Under general supervision of the Office and Budget Supervisor, this position uses the STAR FSCM system, manages the division's accounts payable, receivable and procurement business operations; by preparing STAR invoices, debt collection and purchase order management. This position serves as the division's Area Forms and Publications Coordinator by designing, processing, maintaining, and coordinating printing, ordering, storage and inventory management of all division forms and publications, including preparation and distribution of information required for the advancement of an administrative rule or statutory changes.

      The classification title for this position is Financial Specialist - Senior (schedule 02, range 13). A 12-month probationary period will be required. This position is not represented in a collective bargaining unit and is considered exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

      Pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan in effect at the time of appointment. Starting pay may vary for current state employees.

      Job Details

      Remote work: Employees with approved remote and hybrid-remote work arrangements are generally expected to work within the state of Wisconsin. High-speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work. Remote work options are subject to change.

      Criminal histories: W e also consider all qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state and local law. Finalists for this position may be required to allow DWD to conduct a background check or other checks to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. For positions with access to sensitive federal tax information, FBI fingerprinting may also be required.

      Eligibility to work in United States: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e. a US citizen or national or a lawful permanent resident) at the time of appointment. DWD does not sponsor visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. This is not a contract position. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant completing the I-9 upon hire.

      Qualifications

      You need to have the following experience:
      • Ability to explain and present technical information to those with limited knowledge or understanding (e.g., data/reports details, step-by-step procedures, policies, regulations, laws, or similar.)
      • Using computer software for business financial/accounting purposes (e.g., Outlook, SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, PeopleSoft, QuickBooks, or similar.)
      • Processing financial documents and transactions (e.g., accounts receivable/payable, invoices, purchase orders, etc.) in compliance with state, federal, and/or organizational guidelines (e.g., statutes, policies, fund use directives, etc.)
      • Advanced knowledge of mathematical procedures and processes used for financial accounting purposes, including mathematical formulas and functions in Microsoft Excel
      • Analyzing numbers and data for financial/accounting purposes, as well as the ability to demonstrate and explain the process used in the collections of data
      Any of the following experience would be nice to have:
      • Providing customer service in a hybrid work environment (e.g. working with stakeholders, vendors, clients, etc. to obtain/provide information, coordinate services, etc.)
      • Telecom experience with Automated Call Distribution (ACD) systems and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
      • Researching, analyzing, and communicating financial report data with internal and external stakeholders to discuss issues and make recommendations to solve problems
