Overview We are seeking a full-time Flight Test Engineer 1 in our Salem, OR location. In this role, you will be responsible for performing basic flight testing activities including developing ground and flight test plans, coordinating and executing flight tests, and communicating issues identified during flight testing. Essential Functions Drafts ground and flight test plans and reports for basic test programs derived from previous programs Coordinates and executes simple flight tests as part of a flight test crew Understands and maintains basic test aircraft and equipment configurations Operates flight test tools and post processes flight test data Communicates issues identified during flight test to team members and management Prepares simple avionics system installation data for test aircraft Performs basic troubleshooting on avionics test installations using proper engineering tools and techniques Thoroughly documents work in an organized manner Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Computer Engineering OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Ability to travel domestic/international up to 3-6 months per year Desired Qualifications Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) Previous work or internship experience with aircraft systems projects and general aviation products Pilot or aircraft maintenance certification Previous flight test experience Experience with revision control tools, mobile application development, audio/video recording tools, or database tools Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
