WTTW (Chicago PBS) is seeking a creative and experienced writer to produce engaging, audience-building digital content for the food section of wttw.com. Please note, this is a freelance position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Generate and pitch ideas for original content for WTTW’s food vertical, wttw.com/food;
● Write regular web stories for WTTW’s food vertical, working with WTTW staff from pitch or assignment to publication;
● Write effective headlines and other display copy; identify and obtain companion art such as images or other graphics;
● Stay attuned to the restaurant industry and other food-related topics, such as food production, education, history, recipes, and more;
● Research and fact-check all content;
● Optimize content for SEO;
● Meet deadlines assigned by WTTW staff
SKILLS:
● Excellent writing and editing skills; strong communication and pitch skills
● Strong interviewing and reporting skills
● Demonstrated interest in and experience producing food content that is fun, accessible, and diverse
● Ability to meet deadlines
● Flexible, positive, and collaborative approach to work
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Docs
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree
