      Workforce Planning and Management Branch are seeking motivated individuals who are passionate about achieving people-focused outcomes to apply or develop their human resources skills to fill multiple vacancies. Successful applicants will be offered a role in ABF Recruitment. ABF Recruitment manage the end to end recruitment process for entry level Border Force Officer Recruit Training (BFORT), Marine Tactical Officer (MTO) and Specialist Marine roles.

      ABF Recruitment - Marine Recruitment is responsible for the recruitment for the entry-level MTO cadet program and Specialist Marine roles including deck, engineering, enforcement and support crew. This includes recruitment of sea-going officers for ADV Ocean Protector and ABF Cutters including Ocean Shield, Cape Class and Bay Class vessels, Thaiyak and Fast Response Boats.

      ABF Recruitment - BFORT is responsible for the recruitment of BFORT Officers, the key entry level pathway into the ABF. The team manage the BFORT program from inception, advertising and design through to assessment and on boarding. The BFORT program plays a critical role in delivering a talent pipeline of officers to all regions across Australia in order to protect our border, and we are responsible for attracting a diverse range of high quality officers to assist the ABF to deliver on its Mission.

      Our ideal candidate

      The ABF Recruitment - Senior Border Force Officer role supports the end to end management of recruiting entry level BFORT, MTO and Specialist Marine Recruitment candidates. This commences with the initiation of a recruitment campaign and continues with the administration of a BFORT or Marine candidate's journey through recruitment, the mandatory conditions phase, ABF College course placement and on boarding.

      The Officer will maintain strong external and internal stakeholder holder engagement to ensure that recruitment activities are delivered.

      Under supervision the Officer has a key stakeholder engagement role to maintain and enhance relationships with a large group of internal and external stakeholders.

      Duties and responsibilities

      • Under supervision assist to manage end-to-end processing of recruitment campaigns
      • Manage and respond to candidates enquiries
      • Monitor and maintain accurate records of candidate's progress through mandatory conditions ensuring high quality candidate care and escalating areas of concern early
      • Assist to develop internal and external communications and advertising opportunities by liaising with Social Media and the Production and Design teams
      • Coordinate documentation and scheduling of panel members for recruitment exercise

      This role is not a designated Border Force Officer (BFO) position, applicants may choose to become a BFO post commencement.

      Preference is for applicants to be based in the ACT, however applicants based in other Capital cities may be considered. Applicants must be able to attend Departmental premises.

      Highly Desirable Skills

      • Manage and maintain accurate data and records in HR systems
      • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on a range of matters
      • Ability to resolve a range of moderately complex enquiries, escalating as required
      • Provide technical expertise that contributes to business unit outcomes
      • An understanding of the impact of the work area on longer-term strategic and operational outcomes for the ABF
      • Work under limited guidance in relation to areas of responsibility, ensuring complex or difficult issues are discussed with supervisor
      • Respond to stakeholder needs and expectations
      • Experience or qualifications in human resources management and/or training are desirable.

      To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.

      The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:

      • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
      • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.

      In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
