- Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university or college
- Valid Texas Teacher Certification EC-8
- Campus leadership experience
- At least three years successful teaching experience
- Experience with Gifted and Talented instructional best practices
- Bilingual and/or ESL certification
- The G/T Liaison is a “master” teacher who has both content and instructional expertise in giftedness and its characteristics, talent development, and gifted pedagogy.
- The G/T Liaison has a good command of classroom management strategies and structures.
- The G/T Liaison is an effective communicator who possesses traits that foster positive relationships and collaborative conversations.
- The G/T Liaison has knowledge of inquiry-based instruction, project-based-learning and the pedagogical implementation of the 4 C’s skills.
- The G/T Liaison has robust knowledge in effective design and implementation of differentiated instruction, with a focus on high ability learners and those with talents in leadership
- SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT
- Conducts classroom visitations to provide feedback on teachers’ progress in implementing research-based instructional strategies/methods for Gifted and Talented Learners.
- Works for the improvement of instruction through individual and group conferences with teachers focusing on targeted goals.
- Assist teachers in developing and providing gifted students with enriched or alternative course work through curriculum modification, compacting, etc. to meet the needs of gifted learners and promote high achievement in gifted learners.
- Collects, analyzes and interprets local and state assessment data.
- Meets with STEM/GT Coordinator and GT facilitators on a regular basis to discuss and review gifted and talented students, data, curriculum implementation, progress, etc.
- Collaborates with teachers and C&I staff to ensure proper rigor and effectiveness of lessons and activities during the learning process.
- PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION
- Works and learns collaboratively and collegially with teachers, campus administrators, campus leadership, curriculum specialists, and district coordinators.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information.
- Complies with all State, District and local campus routines, regulations, policies and guidelines.
- Effectively communicates and maintains an effective relationship with supervisors, colleagues, students, and parents.
- Demonstrates the ability to empathize, listen, and build trusting relationships.
- Maintain positive relationships and act as a role model to students.
- Establishes systems of on-going communication with others (newsletters, websites, etc.)
- INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
- Demonstrates an understanding of the TEKS and ability to design effective lessons and assessments that directly align with the standards.
- Assists campuses/teachers in analyzing and interpreting various types of data in order to plan and implement quality gifted and talented services.
- Models lessons for teachers in a classroom setting upon request.
- Utilizes performance data to identify student needs and plan for appropriate accommodations in collaboration with campus teachers/administrators.
- Provide direct instructional opportunities to identified G/T students K-8 in alignment to the district’s current pull-out service model.
- Plan and implement appropriate lessons and events designed to support gifted students in engaging their interests and further developing their talent.
- ADMINISTRATIVE AND CONSULTATION
- Maintains accurate records of Gifted and Talented Students and shares information with the parents, administration and campus teachers in a timely manner.
- Facilitates and actively participates in meetings, training and staffing advocating for Gifted and Talented Services.
- Researches and articulates methodologies, strategies and program components as they relate to best practices for Gifted and Talented Services.
- PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
- Plans and conducts in-service, staff development and support sessions for teachers related to using research-based instructional strategies/methods for Gifted and Talented Services.
- Provides regular professional development and learning to groups of teachers and parents demonstrating instructional best practices for the gifted and talented.
- Participates in campus and district meetings, local/state conferences, staff development and professional growth activities.
- OTHER
- Works cooperatively with the subject coordinators and G/T Facilitators.
- Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned by the G/T STEM Coordinator.

SUMMARY:
Facilitate the implementation of Gifted and Talented (G/T) services at the campus
and district level. Work in collaboration with campus administrators and teachers
to provide supplemental support for increasing advanced student achievement,
specifically for gifted and talented students, through staff development,
instructional planning, and classroom support for teachers through both a pull-out
and inclusion based service design.
