      Pay Grade/Days: Auxiliary 4/239 days

      Primary Purpose:

      Maintains and cares for athletic fields, athletic facilities, and school grounds.

      Qualifications:

      Education/Certification:

      High school diploma or equivalent is desired

      Valid Texas driver’s license

      Special Knowledge/Skills:

      Possess a good mechanical aptitude.

      Possess a good working knowledge of the care and operation of landscaping tools/equipment.

      Communicates effectively both orally and written.

      Must have an excellent driving record.

      Ability to operate field marking and grooming equipment

      Experience:

      This is an entry level position. Grounds keeping experience is desired.

      Major Responsibilities and Duties:

      1. Maintain, clean and care for athletic fields, athletic facilities and school grounds.
      2. Perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs and adjustments to tools/equipment as directed.
      3. Mark athletic fields/courses as directed.
      4. Collect and dispose of litter and refuse.
      5. Work with building maintenance and/or perform indoor cleaning/maintenance as directed.
      6. Perform minor repairs to athletic facilities.
      7. Operate sprinkling equipment. Maintain watering schedule.
      8. Work mornings following athletic events (involves weekend work).
      9. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Director.
      10. Regular Attendance

      Supervisory Responsibilities:

      None.

      Equipment Used:

      Basic hand tools and outdoor power equipment. ATV utility vehicles, mowers, gas-powered weed trimmer, blowers, edger, sprayers, striping machine, posthole digger (manual and gas powered) aerators and linght trucks.

      Mental Demands

      Reading (ability to understand verbal instructions, maintain emotional control under stress and demanding situations.

      Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

      Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing; frequent lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds; work outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; work weekends/irregular hours as directed; able to be call-out for emergencies; subjected to work with various industrial hazards (mechanical, chemical); work on ladders, or work on platform at various heights.
