      Controls Design Engineer

      The Controls Hardware Engineer is responsible for providing controls hardware engineering design and support to the project team that delivers 'turnkey' custom automation equipment.

      Responsibilities

      • Lead meetings with customers and project managers to understand project requirements.
      • Design electrical and pneumatic controls utilizing AutoCAD Electrical for drawing development.
      • Develop a bill of controls materials and seek cost estimates for the purchasing department, working with project management to ensure timely ordering of parts.
      • Design interconnections of peripheral hardware such as servo motors, vision systems, robots, leak test systems, and data collection systems, requiring knowledge of network communications.
      • Collaborate closely with the controls build department on equipment wiring and plumbing.
      • Assist with debugging system hardware.
      • Adhere to established controls standards and procedures.
      • Observe safety procedures.

      Essential Skills

      • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, SISTEMA safety, SCCR, Power, Enclosure Heat, Pneumatic Design and Flow, and Fluid Design and Flow calculations.
      • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
      • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures.
      • Understanding of basic algebra and geometry for calculating scaling factors, proportions, percentages, rates, and ratios.
      • Problem-solving skills to deal with concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
      • Organized and detail-oriented.
      • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team.
      • Creative and innovative thinking.
      • Time management skills.
      • Ability to take direction.

      Additional Skills & Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.

      Work Environment

      The work environment includes regular indoor activities around moving mechanical parts with moderate noise levels. Occasionally, work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions. Employees are required to sit, use hands, and reach with arms regularly, and occasionally stand, walk, push, pull, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds unassisted is expected. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Safety equipment, including proper PPE, must be worn

      This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Victor, NY.

      Pay and Benefits

      The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $62.50/hr.
