As a member of the Operations & Partnerships (O&P) leadership team, you will contribute directly to managing all departmental business operations and ad-hoc operational projects by providing project management support for designated project workstreams.
You will provide key connectivity within a complex global Pharm Sci footprint for business process best practice sharing and ensuring transparency between functions.
Support for the Pharm Sci / R&D level operational interfaces including but not limited to R&D programs such as Smarter, Simpler, Sharper (S3) and key functions such as Research and TAU Business Operations Leads PharmSci Training implementation and facilitation across functions globally
Partner closely with the Head of Pharm Sci O&P to ensure business operations are well managed across the teams and subfunctions.
Lead and develop a strategy for achieving O&P's long-term goals and vision.
Track and assist O&P functional heads for the successful completion of O&P goals.
Lead development and maintenance of O&P SharePoint site and communication management
Support the Head of PS O&P to build effective leadership and extended leadership team interactions and employee engagement plans
Own O&P functional budget development (CAPEX, FOS) across O&P global functions and serve as primary finance liaison. Work closely with finance to finalize the budget.
Develops O&P resource management and allocation tools.
Tracks compliance with the TEMPO reporting tool across O&P
Monitor the hiring process for O&P functions, ensuring team hires to the plan so that projects are resourced appropriately
Collaborate with the broader O&P community to strategically develop and manage tools, reports, templates, and resources in order to ensure consistency across workstreams
Responsible as a point of contact for business operational initiatives and groups/forums within and outside of PharmSci and be the Pharm Sci lead for cross-R&D initiatives (e.g., data privacy, archival).
Lead the (re)design and implementation of Pharm Sci-wide cross-functional Business Operations forum. Ensure optimal forum design and membership are in place. Make adjustments if/as needed.
Lead Pharm Sci-wide business operations data management and visualization (e.g., SmartSheets, Power BI, etc.)
Establish processes for best practice sharing and implementation of global frameworks attentive to regional and local needs
Lead effort to ‘right-size’ PS training across all functions and ensure associated training assignments are allocated properly
Represent PS in any R&D Training initiatives, such as but not limited to R&D Training Governance
Coordinate training assignments and run monthly Veeva documentation reports (in the future when this system is widely deployed)
You will have 3-5 direct reports.
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Operations, Pharmacy, Business Management, or related discipline. Advanced degree in Science or Business preferred.
10+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical research and development, with a preference for PS development, Clinical Operations or related discipline, lab operations management & leadership, deep experience working with Research and Development including ‘chief of staff’ or business operations experience and/or CMC teams and managing relationships with senior level internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum 7 years of relevant business experience required; Pharmaceutical experience preferred
Minimum 5 years of project management and leadership experience
Expert project management and process improvement (lean/six sigma/agile) skills preferred
General Process Development, Research, and Technical Operations experience including clinical development, commercialization supply operations, regulatory and compliance experience.
Direct experience in Chemistry Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) R&D in the pharmaceutical industry or related field
Creative thinker who drives overall direction, even when the initial path forward may not be clear, and establishes alignment to enable efficient and effective execution toward the direction
Experience working within a complex organization and demonstrated ability to work across functions and regions, at all levels where the incumbent may not have direct authority
Comfort with ambiguity
Self-driven and clear track record of delivery
Strong proven ability to manage large and global change agendas
Ability to influence and work effectively with various business partnerships, regions, and cultures.
Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal presentation skills
A proven track record of leading and driving global-scale business operations management and organizational culture change as well as delivering on programs with complex business deliverables is a plus.
Track record of successful leadership & management (either direct or through influence) of multi-disciplinary globally dispersed teams is required.
Certifications in areas of Operational Expertise, Vendor Development & Management, Process Improvement Programs a plus
Requires approximately 10-15 % travel, which may include overnight and international travel to attend meetings, other Takeda sites, external manufacturers, and other related travel.

Base Salary Range: $143,500.00 to $205,000.00, based on candidate professional experience level. Employees may also be eligible for Short-term and Long-Term Incentive benefits as well. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Paid Volunteer Time Off. The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
