Are you ready to shape the direction of our data & modelling work? Do you thrive on leading, motivating, and developing a talented and fast-growing team? Would you like to shorten the time it takes for life-changing treatments to reach patients by infusing data science into the products used for trial planning and conduct optimisation?

Then, seize this opportunity and join us as Head of Data & Modelling. Apply now!

      The position

As Head of Data & Modelling, you will lead our team of data engineers and data scientists who are developing innovative data solutions for trial planning. As a leader, we expect you to develop and deliver value through others and in collaboration with stakeholders across the organisation; and as Subject Matter Expert, apply your technical expertise to drive and set the strategic direction of the department.

Being part of the product management team, your role involves working closely with the Product Manager, System Architect, and other stakeholders to shape and enhance the product's vision and strategy.

      Your key responsibilities:

      • Lead, manage, motivate, and develop the team of data scientists and data engineers - ensuring that the collective team has the right skillset, and that team members are motivated and develop professionally continuously
      • Facilitates collaboration with business and technical stakeholders within the wider product team and across Novo Nordisk to ensure alignment on purpose and that relevant knowledge elsewhere in the organisation is leveraged; such that the team can deliver the biggest business impact possible both short and longer-term
      • Set the standard for ways-of-working and ensure quality and compliance through all phases of the team's work, including the production, and retirement of data pipelines and models
      • Actively contribute to the evolution of the product vision and roadmap as a part of the product management team

This is a unique opportunity to challenge and inspire the organisation as well as establish a strong internal community to share knowledge and learnings.

      Qualifications

      • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a technology or business-related field
      • 8+ years of professional experience in data science or data engineering, preferably within the pharmaceutical or another highly regulated industry
      • Ability to lead and motivate teams, ideally from previous people management responsibility
      • Experience working with implementation and adoption of new software would be a great advantage but not a pre-requisite
      • Excellent communication, people, and organizational skills
      • Fluency in oral and written English

The role requires the ability to understand multifaceted business challenges, balancing different perspectives from team members with various competencies as well as other internal stakeholders - in particular, the Head of Data & Modelling must master the art of navigating between the big picture (i.e., the product vision) and technical details of specific data pipelines and models.

As a person, you are a people-oriented team player, who excels in an environment with a high degree of empowerment. You can work independently and engage with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. You are empathetic, patient, and can effectively engage with others – whether one-on-one or in a group. Overall, you are passionate about agile ways of working, and are eager to deliver value with your unique skillset.
