      Job Summary

      To define, lead and execute the country Transactional Banking strategy (Cash Management, Trade Finance, Working Capital and FI Trade) to drive sustainable revenue growth, superior client experience, disciplined risk management and optimal capital deployment — aligned to Absa Group strategy and Mauritius market priorities.
      The role acts as the country custodian of transactional banking value creation, ensuring product innovation, commercial discipline, operational excellence and regulatory integrity across all client segments.
      The role will also involve working closely with the Absa Group to drive the modernization of the Transactional Banking platform, advancing next-generation payment capabilities including real-time payments, digital channels, API integration, and cross-border infrastructure. The incumbent will be responsible for strengthening the bank’s payments ecosystem, enhancing client experience through innovative, secure, and scalable solutions, and ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory, technology, and market developments across international jurisdictions.

      Job Description

      Enterprise Revenue & Growth Leadership

      • Own and deliver sustainable growth in transactional product revenue, fee income and balance sheet optimisation.

      • Shape and execute the country Transactional Banking strategy in alignment with Group product architecture.

      • Drive share-of-wallet expansion within Corporate, International Banking and FI segments.

      • Lead cross-sell integration with Coverage, Lending and Markets to maximise total client profitability.

      • Implement structured pipeline management and performance discipline.

      Client & Market Leadership

      • Define the country value proposition for Cash, Trade and Working Capital.

      • Lead structured client segmentation and target client acquisition strategy.

      • Embed solution-led selling supported by financial and cash flow analytics.

      • Act as senior product sponsor in key client engagements.

      Commercial & Financial Stewardship

      • Own product pricing strategy ensuring risk-adjusted returns.

      • Drive cost discipline and optimise cost-to-income ratios.

      • Manage margin, liquidity impact and capital efficiency.

      • Identify and remove booking bottlenecks to accelerate revenue realisation.

      Governance, Risk & Regulatory Oversight

      • Act as country accountable executive for transactional product compliance.

      • Ensure adherence to AML, Financial Crime, Sanctions and regulatory frameworks.

      • Embed proactive risk identification and mitigation practices.

      • Maintain strong partnership with Risk, Compliance and Operations.

      Operating Model & Delivery Excellence

      • Design and optimise the Transactional Banking operating model.

      • Ensure capacity planning and service excellence.

      • Lead new product approvals and country mandate execution.

      • Drive digital enablement in partnership with IT and Operations.

      People & Leadership

      • Provide strategic leadership across the transactional product team.

      • Build deep product capability and market expertise.

      • Embed a high-performance and accountability-driven culture.

      • Drive succession planning and future skills readiness.

      Key Outcomes Expected (2–3 Year Horizon)

      • Position Absa Mauritius as a market leader in transactional banking solutions.

      • Deliver consistent double-digit growth in transactional revenue.

      • Improve cost-to-income ratio of transactional portfolio.

      • Strengthen FI and cross-border trade corridors.

      • Develop a strong and sustainable transactional banking talent bench.

      Qualifications

      • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Degree (in a business-related discipline preferable)

      • Training: Certification in advanced trade, working capital / cash, would be an added advantage.

      • Practitioner with advanced / expert cash and or trade, working capital knowledge may also be considered.

      Preferred Experience

      • Minimum 7 years relevant experience at managerial level or equivalent of 12 years bank related experience
