Job summary
University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSussex) was formed on 1 April 2021. We employ nearly 20,000 people and have an operating budget of more than £1 billion. We run seven hospitals in Brighton, Haywards Heath, Chichester, Worthing and Shoreham, as well as numerous community and satellite services. The trust is responsible for all district general acute services for Brighton and Hove, West and Mid Sussex and parts of East Sussex. We also provide specialised and tertiary services across Sussex and parts of the South East, including neuroscience, arterial vascular surgery, neonatology, specialised paediatric, cardiac, cancer, renal, infectious diseases and HIV medicine services. Our vision 'Excellent care, every time' is at the heart of all that that we do - we pride ourselves in putting the compassionate care of patients first and foremost.
Main duties of the job
The Sussex Cardiac Centre is based in Brighton at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. This is a very exciting time to join the Trust as we have opened a new department in April 2023. The 3Ts project has transformed the Royal Sussex County site delivering a state-of-the-art environment and services.
We are a very busy department providing a wide range of investigations and are looking to expand our team of enthusiastic and motivated physiologists.
The Echocardiography department provides a routine TTE outpatient and inpatient service. More specialised services include 3D, Dobutamine Stress Echo, Exercise Echo, Contrast, Bubble, Adult Congenital and Heart Failure screening.
The TOE service delivers support to the complex structural interventions in the Cath lab as well as all clinical lists - physiologist accreditation is actively encouraged in this field. The department is actively involved in Research studies involving TAVI, ASD and PFO closures. As a BSE accredited Department since 2008, we have weekly review and monthly teaching meetings attended by one or more Consultants, Registrars, Cardiac Physiologists and junior staff.

About the company
National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
