Job Description
- Req#: R-098718
- Conduct regular inspections/audits of job activities, work sites, equipment and processes to detect existing or potential hazards; complete forms for internal audits.
- Identify and address unsafe conditions, safety violations, accidents and near misses; works with HSE Manager, Management, and Sub-Trades to recommend corrective or preventative measures where indicated; and take necessary steps to ensure that unsafe employee activities, procedures, and practices are corrected.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure HSE standards are communicated, implemented and measured.
- Analyze data to identify trends and provide proposed solutions for negative trends.
- Work closely with the HSE Manager to ensure timely reporting of HSE related statistical summaries, including leading / lagging indicators.
- Actively engage or lead Health, Safety and Environmental Management System audits to ensure the overall integrity of the system is maintained and adhered to.
- Support HSE Manager to ensure that incident investigations are completed in a timely manner and the results, including corrective actions, are communicated to Senior Management and appropriate stakeholders.
- Actively engage in safety talks, meetings, orientations, or other presentations with internal and external groups.
- Promote a positive safety culture, identifying safety initiatives that lead to improved safety and minimizing risks.
- Proactively work with Site team and subcontractors to ensure effective and timely closure of all actions.
- Professional designation such as National Construction Safety Officer Certificate (NCSO), Gold Seal Safety Practitioner (GSC), Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST), or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
- Heavy or Light Rail experience an asset
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience working in full-time HSE function
- Comprehensive working knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
- Possess a broad knowledge of Industry Standards as they apply to the construction industry
- Thorough knowledge and experience in health and safety management systems and program implementation
- Ability to use Microsoft Office and various computer programs for safety reporting
- Ability to demonstrate the application of risk assessment to company operations and activities
- Self-motivated, action oriented and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment or independently on routine tasks with a positive attitude
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels both internally and externally
- Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
- Strong organization, analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Day and night shifts as required based on Construction schedule
- Ability to commute to and from project site
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions

Reporting to the HSE Manager, the HSE Advisor will be responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment while building relationships with our Trade Partners on site. This position is based in the GTA, working on an exciting and ground-breaking transit infrastructure project.
