HSPP Associate (Multiple Positions) Posting Number req20975 Department Human Subjects Protection Prgm Department Website Link https://research.arizona.edu/compliance/human-subjects-protection-program Location Main Campus Address Tucson, AZ USA Position Highlights Research Administrative Services Human Subjects Protection Program is in search of multiple HSPP Associates who will serve in the role of an Institutional Review Board (IRB) Associate. The HSPP Associate will perform a series of highly skilled assessments related to regulatory determinations and institutional requirements for human research protocols that are minimal risk. Incumbents have the responsibility for the review and preparation of materials, document determinations, and communicate determinations to the research teams. The HSPP Associate will provide support for IRB meeting preparations, utilize eIRB to document IRB actions, and work on special projects related to data integrity. The Human Subjects Protection Program (HSPP) is the administrative and regulatory support program for the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and works in collaboration with the research community to maintain an ethical and compliant research program.
An IRB is an independent ethics review committee that protects human research participants. The IRB must review all research and related activities involving human subjects conducted at the University of Arizona or where the University is a responsible participant.

Duties & Responsibilities Duties & responsibilities:
· Review new minimal risk requests for consistency, completeness, adherence to federal and local policy, and interpret federal regulations to categorize each study appropriately.
· Contact Investigators and/or research staff for clarifications, corrections or modifications prior to Chair review via eIRB. Notify Investigator and research staff when approval has been granted and forward approval documentation and newly approved consent instruments to PI.
· Update eIRB database per manual, and participate in database testing and data clean-up when requested.
· Participate in outreach and training activities with the IRB and the research community, including development of training material and conducting educational sessions with new researchers, research personnel, investigators, units, departments, and colleges.
· Assist the research community with incoming questions to the departmental email account.
· Additional duties may be assigned.
