      Position Summary

      The HR Business Partner/Sr HR Business Partner role will manage work in human resources areas of specialization, with minimal supervision. They are expected to develop advanced skills and level manage work in human resource areas of specialization, with minimal supervision/guidance. The individual in this role should be fully competent in use of HR concepts, provide broad interpretation of policies and procedures, identify problems, develop solutions and take actions to resolve. The HR Business Partner/Sr HR Business Partner builds partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees.

      This HR Business Partner/Sr HR Business Partner role will be supporting corporate and operations groups within the Enterprise HR Consulting team.

      Responsibilities

      • Responsible for providing HR guidance across several HR disciplines (e.g., compensation, employee relations, talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, policy implementation, employment law, change management).
      • Provides independent consultation on complex issues; is knowledgeable of past internal practices and/or best external practices regarding HR-related business issues. Analyzes and understands information and business objectives to make appropriate recommendations to leadership/assigned customers.
      • Analyze diversity, attrition and other HR reports for trends and the development of solutions to identified issues
      • Conduct investigations on routine concerns and make recommendations for action based on the findings.
      • Develops or increases knowledge of the organization, procedures and customers while analyzing past practices and business objectives to make appropriate recommendations to management/assigned customers.

      Required/Basic Qualifications

      Note: Dependent on relative experience, the level to which a candidate is aligned is outlined below.

      Human Resources Business Partner

      • Bachelor’s degree
      • In addition to required degree, one (1) or more years of related work experience.
      • In lieu of bachelor’s degree AND one (1) or more years of related work experience listed above, High school diploma/GED AND seven (7) or more years of related work experience.

      Senior Human Resources Business Partner

      • Bachelor’s degree
      • In addition to required degree, three (3) or more years of related work experience.
      • In lieu of bachelor’s degree AND three (3) or more years of related work experience listed above, High school diploma/GED AND nine (9) or more years of related work experience.

      Desired Qualifications

      • Master’s degree in human resources
      • Experience working as an HR generalist, specifically employee relations
      • Three (3) or more years of HR functional experience for HRBP level, five (5) or more years of HR functional experience for Sr HRBP level
      • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP
      • Experience as an HR professional in a utility environment
      • Working knowledge of employment/labor laws

      Working Conditions

      • Work location will be the Duke Energy Plaza in Charlotte, NC
      • Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to Duke Energy Plaza
      • Office and remote environment which will include prolonged sitting at desk or workstation, exposure to personal computer monitor, and frequent use of keyboard and phone.
      • May be required to travel to various locations within the assigned customer base.
