      Industrial Maintenance Technician

      Position specifics:

      • Location: Charter Wire – 7850 N. 81st Street, Milwaukee, WI 53222

      • Shift: 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM, Sunday night – Thursday morning.

      • Pay: Competitive hourly rate based on experience + shift premium + overtime opportunities

      POSITION PURPOSE/MISSION:

      Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems throughout the plant. This role supports safe and efficient plant operations by minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring equipment operates according to established codes, regulations, and company standards. All work is performed in alignment with company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (Free GED Works program eligible)

      • Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in industrial maintenance

      • Ability to perform basic math calculations

      • Ability to read, understand, and follow operating and maintenance instructions

      • Good written and verbal communication skills

      • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission systems, machine installation, welding, and pipefitting

      MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

      • Assist in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving mechanical equipment issues

      • Support machine installation, maintenance, and repair to ensure production and support equipment remain operational

      • Work alongside experienced mechanics to complete equipment repairs and maintenance tasks

      • Operate forklift trucks and maintenance equipment for lifting, pulling, and transporting materials, including the use of rigging and hoisting equipment

      • Safely operate maintenance shop tools including drill presses, power saws, hydraulic presses, electric drills, grinders, sanders, pneumatic hammers, welding equipment, cutting torches, and various hand tools

      • Follow all plant safety procedures, including proper lockout/tagout practices before performing maintenance work

      • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and remain aware of the safety of others in the work area

      • Follow Environmental, Quality and Safety Management System procedures and requirements

      • Perform all job duties while meeting essential job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

      • Constant standing

      • Frequent lifting up to 10 lbs

      • Occasional carrying and lifting up to 60 lbs, frequent hand use, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, below waist level work, complex neck/spinal motion, and walking

      • Minimal climbing, foot use, and lifting up to 120 lbs

      • Ability to meet the physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation, as provided in detail in the Job Analysis Database
