Job Description
- Req#: 3066
- Threat Monitoring and Incident Response : As part of a team, monitor, analyze, research, & triage security events, as tracked by various security tools, then respond appropriately to remediate as much unacceptable risk to the institution as possible, mitigating the remainder.
- Pursue established Security Standards and Regulations : Champion the cause of improving the implementation of and the adherence to, established cybersecurity standards such as the CIS Critical Security Controls, NIST, ISO, FedRAMP, etc. in order to satisfy regulations such as GLBA, FERPA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS & FIPA to reduce institutional risk.
- Conduct Security Tests : With appropriate notice and pre-authorization, perform various tests to identify vulnerabilities in the security architecture, technology-related and otherwise.
- Effective Collaboration and Communication : In timely and appropriate fashions, succinctly communicate necessary information with others in written and verbal form, being sure to maintain the principles of confidentiality, integrity and availability. Good documentation skills are also expected.
- Maintain Educational Edge: Stay up to date on current cybersecurity trends & developments, including threats, vulnerabilities, TTPs, defense techniques, & methods and their relevance to the institution.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of InfoSec and IT concepts including networking concepts, cloud computing, computer applications, principles, practices, and procedures of modern information services.
- Be capable of understanding and following moderately complex instructions and collaborate effectively throughout the College community.
- Thoroughness in assessing security controls and identifying vulnerabilities.
- Proficient in analyzing data, identifying patterns, making informed decisions and thinking ‘outside the box.’
- Effective at developing compensating controls for the mitigation of risks that have no remediation.
- Comfortable using various security tools, operating systems, encryption technologies and scripting languages (e.g. Linux, PowerShell.)
- Must have the ability to learn new methods, procedures, operations and skills.
- Focus on continuous improvements including continuing education and personal development.
- Understand the institution and department’s mission, goals, operations and risk management.

Required Qualifications: This position requires an Associate degree. Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field is preferred. Information Security Certifications and 2 years job experience in a cybersecurity or IT role are preferred.
