The primary responsibility of this individual is to provide quality instruction to Western students enrolled in Adult Basic Education (ABE), high school equivalency certification (HSEC) preparation, and career advisement for current students into career pathways opportunities that will allow for dual work experience and/or college. The instructor will train students in SMART goal setting and career exploration while ensuring student eligibility for career pathways track.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR WHICH THIS INDIVIDUAL IS ACCOUNTABLE
1. Provides quality instruction to Western students enrolled in Adult Basic Education (ABE), high school equivalency certification (HSEC) preparation, career goal setting, and career exploration and pathways.2. Provides quality learning experiences for all students in accordance with their needs and abilities while maintaining the basic integrity of the course’s standards and objectives in preparation for community work experiences and/or college.3. Designs and implements effective learning processes for students; provides feedback on student improvement, tracks student progress, helps students maintain a schedule to complete HSE courses and work experiences and/or college in a timely manner.4. Will coordinate with our local Department of Workforce Services (DWS) and local employers to proactively involve students in job shadowing, internships, work experiences and/or dual college courses.5. Will assist students in goal setting next steps in attaining employment in their career field and reasonable career pathway.6. Communicates clearly and effectively using the college network system, including the e-mail and calendar system, Canvas, and word processing; communicates effectively with community partners.7. Refers students to the resources in College and Career Readiness, Peer Tutor Center, Hay Library, Admissions and Advising, Wellbeing and Accessibility, and services of community partners.8. Adheres strictly to FERPA and Western confidentiality policies.About the company
