  In order to support SAR R&D team, Airbus Defence and Space is offering an

  Internship within Radar Remote Sensing and Geoinformation (d/f/m)

  Your team

  The department GEO is offering Geo-Information Solutions based on multi-sensor data with focus on radar satellites like TerraSAR-X and Sentinel-1. The alignment of vision, concepts and specific requirements together with customers, as well as internal departments like Engineering, is key.

  As an intern you will learn about: Using radar satellite data in combination with other data sources (e.g. optical satellite data) to improve existing or design new applications, methods and ways of working.

  Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Preprocessing of SAR and/or optical satellite data (co-registration, layer stacking, filtering, segmentation, feature extraction, ortho-rectification, etc.)

  • Preparation of training data for machine learning / deep learning applications (labeling, tiling, etc.)

  • Workflow implementation in GIS and / or Remote Sensing Software

  • Implementation, application and improvement of machine learning or deep learning methods in Python

  • Testing, verification and documentation of results

  Desired skills and qualifications

  • enrolled full time student (d/f/m) within Photogrammetry, Geoinformatics, Geoscience, Remote Sensing, Geography or related studies

  • Experience with GIS (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS) and image processing software (e.g. ERDAS Imagine, SNAP) is required

  • Profound knowledge and experience in Python programming is required

  • Knowledge in computer vision and machine learning / deep learning methods is required

  • Knowledge in digital image processing of remote sensing data is desired

  • Basic knowledge in SAR remote sensing would be a benefit

  • Languages: English and / or German (second is a plus)

  • You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently
