What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Collaborate with assigned AUSAs and supervisory attorneys to analyze legal statutes and identify defenses or causes of action
- Conduct legal research and keep abreast of new criminal and civil rules and procedures
- Manage immigration habeas matters, including docketing, calendaring, and drafting responses
- Analyze statutes, judicial precedents, and agency rules to support AUSAs in case preparation
- Draft legal documents and correspondence for attorney review and signature
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Law degree or completion of at least two years of study at an ABA-accredited law school
- Licensed by a state bar
- Minimum two (2) years of professional work experience in a legal environment
- Proficient in legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of e-Discovery procedures
- Experience in drafting legal documents such as motions and briefs
- Strong understanding of federal and state court systems
