- Support development team in releasing and testing new functionalities
- Study new products and translate into modeling specifications for fast solving mathematical models of HVAC components such as evaporators, condensers, compressors, fluid connections, fans, pumps, etc., using physics-based equations
- Debug stable algorithms to simulate performance of single/multi-circuit HVAC systems such as direct expansion air-cooled, water-cooled, chiller, pumped refrigeration etc.
- Fine tune and calibrate thermal models against lab data following a scientific approach
- Investigate convergence and accuracy issues in thermodynamic models and take corrective actions if required
- Write detailed test plans for component/system testing to obtain data for model validation
- Create detailed project plans and lead the assigned projects to completion
- Ensure Vertiv’s performance programs conform to AHRI and DOE requirements
- Perform complex data analysis, properly document results, and prepare presentations
- Apply urgent bug fixes in case of blocking issues
- Prioritize and understand urgency and importance of new requirements
- Master Degree in energy / mechanical engineering or related science with strong expertise in thermodynamics. PhD will be considered a plus.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in working with thermal models and heat transfer analysis of commercial HVAC systems and components
- A proven track record of technical excellence in HVAC system modeling and simulation
- Strong background in single and two-phase fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics
- Deep understanding of the working of HVAC system and its components through extensive work experience, including emerging technologies (liquid cooling)
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a responsible team player
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and communication tools like MS Teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and the ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly
- Traveling availability up to 20%
GRS Thermal Data Modeling Engineer - JOB SUMMARY
Vertiv is seeking an experienced thermal engineer to support the development of its global thermal rating tool. In this role, you will be working with a diverse team of engineers in creating and maintaining thermodynamic models of Vertiv’s HVAC products to support the global Sales and Design teams.
You will be the first point of contact for India and APAC to support and run daily operations.
