      Job Description Summary

      Transamerica is seeking a Lead Human Resources Business Partner. This position is aligned to Human Resources in the People and Places corporate function with client partnership alignment for the Individual Solutions division. This impactful position provides human capital management consulting to leaders and employees of the Strategic Planning Office, Operations, and Life Product/Pricing and Underwriting functions across various remote and on-site locations. In addition to partnering with members of the full Human Resources Business Partner team, this position will collaborate with Human Resource (HR) Centers of Excellence to deliver value-added services in alignment with organizational objectives.

      Responsibilities

      • Develop and utilize a strong understanding of business strategy and operational objectives , coupled with broad HR knowledge and sound judgment, to provide solution based, business-oriented HR plans in a dynamic and transforming business environment.
      • As a member of the HR team utilize proactive communication, collaboration and leverag e the team’s knowledge and experience to gain optimal results . All of this is balanced with a focus on individual accountability and ownership to achieve results.
      • Lead HR discussions during manager and business team meetings to align key HR and business strategies.
      • Look holistically at issues that impact the organization; implement HR solutions based on root cause analysis.
      • Partner with business leaders to understand talent and capability needs and create workforce plans.
      • Work with leaders to identify appropriate organizational changes, in alignment with business goals.
      • Guide and implement organizational design changes to support business transformation .
      • Analyze and synthesize HR data to enable data driven decision making.
      • Drive initiatives regarding culture, organizational change, engagement, and organizational effectiveness.
      • Partner with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
      • Lead or participate in cross-functional/cross-HR projects and programs for enterprise-wide or site-specific needs.
      • Identify opportunities to align programs and processes at an enterprise level and recommend solutions for improvement.
      • Execute on compensation philosophies; administer, engage, and advise management on practices for Total Rewards compensation programs; execute pay/bonus programs and manage exceptions.
      • Advise in the selection and placement of internal and external talent.
      • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to mid and senior level management ( e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary action).
      • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation to managers and employees.
      • Manage and resolve employee concerns and conduct investigations for employment complaints .
      • Provide training and facilitation as needed for Human Resources topics; collaborate with Talent Management (Learning and Development)
      • Facilitate business processes, approvals, and audits in the HR Information System (HRIS) and other reporting tools.

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in HR/organizational development or related business field and eight years of HR generalist experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Broad knowledge of HR trends and best practices.
      • Understanding of the business environment, preferably in the insurance and financial services industry.
      • In-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
      • Experience handling complex employee relations and business issues.
      • Experience participating in or leading change initiatives ( e.g., organizational restructure , culture development, program changes).
      • Willingness to engage in change and challenge the status quo. Flexibility to handle change and change processes in a fast-faced environment.
      • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to take reasonable risks. Ability to maintain composure and exhibit mature judgment in difficult or ambiguous situations.
      • Ability to analyze and interpret HR business trends and objectives and perform root cause analysis.
      • Communication and presentation skills to facilitate projects and programs. Able to clearly and concisely present ideas verbally and in writing, listen well , and deliver complex and difficult messages.
      • Interpersonal and relationship building skills to coach and influence staff and management at all levels.
      • Ab le to build credibility, be tactful, maintain confidences and c onstructive working relationships despite disagreement.
      • Ability to remain productive and successfully manage ambiguous and conflicting information.
      • Critical thinking skills to resolve problems and recommend solutions.
      • Demonstrate high motivation and a sense of urgency in a multi-task environment which includes the a bility to organiz e and prioritize own activities and assist junior staff with prioritization. Able to balance a strong sense of individual accountability within a high functioning team including an ability to collaborate with others to achieve optimal results.
      • Proficiency using MS Office tools.
      • Knowledge of Workday or other HRIS tools.

      Preferred Qualifications

      • HR certification ( e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP).
      • Experience applying change management practices and techniques .

      Working Conditions

      • This is a hybrid position which supports remote work an d in-office presence on average1-3 days per week.

      Compensation:

      The salary for this position generally ranges between $90,000-$115,000. This range is an estimate, based on potential qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.

      Bonus Eligibility:

      Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company’s discretion.
