  Your future team

  Our Cloud Infrastructure team is comprised of people with backgrounds in Engineering, Product, Data Science, and Security. We lift the security, reliability, and productivity of every Software Engineer shipping code for Atlassian cloud. The core of our team is PaaS, shared services, and SRE.

  We're hiring a Lead Principal Software Engineer reporting to the Head of Engineering for Infrastructure. You are a Software Engineer with a background in Computer Science and experience working for SasS companies. Here, you'll work with people across engineering to understand their goals and how Infrastructure can help them achieve those goals better and faster.

  
  

  What you'll do

  • Push strategy forward. We have a great PaaS, shared services, and SRE model. Help us dream up the next step of change to lift security, reliability and performance for our customers, and unleash the potential of Atlassian developers
  • Identify blockers to ensure software engineering excellence (design principles and patterns, unit testing, performance engineering, best practices for security and privacy)
  • Guide our technical direction with service architecture across multiple departments (each of which has hundreds of software engineers)

  Your background

  • 10+ years of experience designing/building enterprise-grade solutions using microservices
  • Background in Java, Kotlin, Observability tools, and service operations
  • Passion and experience with recognizing, raising, and reconciling gaps and redundant efforts across organizations
  • Success with cross-company collaboration
  • Experience influencing and performance coaching engineers
  • Experience designing and building scalable infrastructure platforms used by hundreds of service owners

  Compensation

  At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable and explainable compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience.

  
  

  In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:

  
  

  Zone A: $279,600 - $372,800

  Zone B: $232,100 - $309,400

  Zone C: $251,600 - $335,500

  
  

  This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
