- Doctoral level training in clinical, forensic or counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
- Registration with Health & Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical).
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies and assessment modalities in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. co-morbid/complex presentations).
- Formal training in the supervision of other psychologists including Doctoral Trainees.
- Additional further training in the use of specific psychometric and/or neuro-psychological assessment tools.
- Accredited membership of an appropriate psychological therapy professional body.
- Other related academic qualifications to Masters or Doctoral level.
- Experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist for a substantial period with significant experience of complex and challenging presentations. Must have substantial experience working as an 8a in adult mental health services.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity and acuity, across a range of care settings.
- Experience of working in inpatient mental health settings
- Experience of working with service users who are complex and challenging
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care coordinator and also within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan.
- Knowledge of contemporary legislation relating to the delivery of mental health and psychological services and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management.
- Knowledge and experience of the application of clinical governance and risk assessment and management
- Highly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups.
- Highly developed skills in working with complex, sensitive or contentious information
- Ability to communicate effectively in a highly emotive, antagonistic or hostile atmosphere and to overcome barriers to acceptance/psychological resistance to potentially threatening information.
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- Highly developed skills in providing consultation to other professional including medical staff and non-professional groups.

This post will work as part of an established integrated multi-disciplinary Home Treatment Team and newly commissioned Crisis Hub. The team promotes a dynamic and innovative way of working, triaging and responding to mental health crisis calls and referrals, providing interventions, support, guidance and signposting. The service further delivers timely and responsive face to face assessments where required.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will work within a multi-disciplinary crisis team, as a key clinical member of the multi-disciplinary team. As a psychologist you will apply skills and expertise in clinical and risk assessments, collaboratively develop formulations and care plans, facilitate group and individual psychological interventions, and provide case consultations and reflective sessions for staff as well as teaching, training and supervision.
Your clinical expertise, training and experience will be valued, together with a commitment to supporting your career development and progression, with ongoing learning opportunities. Due to our commitment to your professional growth, we are developing a career progression model in which our 8a psychology staff rotate between differing inpatient environments every two years. Following a full rotation, further career pathways and opportunities, such as the Mental Health Act Approved/Responsible Clinician training pathway become available. This provides a framework through which we can meaningfully reward our talented psychology team, should they want to progress within the profession whilst maintaining a clinical leadership role.
