- Assist individuals in developing needed evidence, preparing required documents and resolving errors, delays or other problems in obtaining benefits or fulfilling obligations.
- Provide information to clients on rights, benefits, privileges or obligations under various laws, judicial decisions, regulations and policies by explaining legal provisions, regulated and administrative practices.

- Prepare legal and non-legal documentation for clients to be reviewed by attorney.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel occasionally.
- The work of this position may require the employee to work irregular hours in support of trial times and witness availability, etc. Work may require working alternate or flexible work schedules in conjunction with courts martial.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

About the Position: This is a Legal Assistant (Office Automation) GS-0986-06 position located at the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCOE), Fort Moore, Ga (formally Fort Benning, GA). The MCOE is located 100 miles south of Atlanta, Georgia, and is adjacent to Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Public transportation and free parking are available.Duties

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in researching, reviewing and preparing legal documents such as: Wills, Bills of Sale, Advance directives and Power of Attorneys as well as non-legal memoranda for completeness of information; retrieving and assembling information for hearings and/or trial use; investigate a variety of legal sources to obtain and/or verify information; and using automated software to produce legal related reports, documents, correspondence and related materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
