      This function covers the review of registration forms and schedules, to determine if the employing unit has met the liability threshold under Section 41 of the MES Act or definition of a successor employer under Section 22 of the MES Act. Based on the review of the registration form/schedules, the employer is either issued a determination of liability or non-liability through the Agency’s automated system. This position also determines if an employer meets the definition of a seasonal employer and issues an automated determination either granting or denying the status. This position is responsible for the maintenance of existing employer accounts due to receipt of new and additional information such as changes in address, employer contacts, NAICS codes, business structure, etc. If insufficient information is provided by the employer, additional registration documents are requested to obtain missing information. The establishment and maintenance of location accounts.

      This position performs other account maintenance related actions such as reviewing duplicate accounts and determining whether to cancel and consolidate them as a single entity; inactivating active accounts as a result of information received that the employer no longer has employment; creating registration cases for follow up based on information provided via discontinuance correspondence; and requesting registration Schedule B form to be completed by the possible successor entity basing on discontinuance correspondence received from an employer that is selling/transferring their business. Reactivating inactive accounts based on documentation received indicating the employer has resumed employment and issuing termination of coverage determinations. Resolving Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) related issues identified. Determining when name and address changes indicate a potential business transfer.

      Issuing redeterminations or reconsiderations for prior status determinations as a result of new and additional information received that such as changing a non-liable employer to liable, termination of coverage as a result of no longer meeting the provisions of the MES Act to be considered a liable employer and modifying employer liability dates.

      Position Description

      Education
      Possession of an associate's degree in any major with at least 16 semester (24 term) credits in business.

      Experience

      Liability Examiner 8
      No specific type or amount is required.

      Liability Examiner 9
      One year of experience equivalent to a Liability Examiner 8.

      Liability Examiner E10
      Two years of experience equivalent to a Liability Examiner, including one year equivalent to a Liability Examiner 9.

      Salary for this position is entirely federally funded. Under federal law an employee whose salary is entirely federally funded may not be a candidate for public office in a partisan election.
