      Description

      The Maintenance Supervisor assists the Director of Facilities in performing, overseeing, and coordinating repairs and maintenance of facilities, operation services, equipment, vehicles, and grounds. S/he is responsible for the general efficiency, functionality, appearance, and safety of the assigned environments and works as part of a team assigning work orders, monitoring and completing work orders, and ensuring that safety-related repairs are the highest priority. The Maintenance Supervisor supervises, instructs, and supports Maintenance Specialists with diagnosis and repairs, engagement of vendors, etc. Full time positions are eligible to participate in Comunilife's generous benefits package and paid time off benefits.

      This position requires traveling throughout the Bronx for repairs. This position also requires a Driver's License

      Schedule:

      Mon.-Fri. 8am - 5pm

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      • Respond 24/7 to emergencies and work varying hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed to ensure timely maintenance of properties occupied by Comunilife

      • Supervise Maintenance Specialists in the performance of their tasks, ensures that buildings, grounds and equipment are cleaned and maintained; performs all maintenance and cleaning tasks as needed

      • Oversees waste disposal

      • Interacts daily with Program Directors, Assistant Vice Presidents and others to ensure maintenance needs are met; conducts regular facility tours to monitor conditions, complete tasks, and make recommendations

      • Assists in managing preventative maintenance initiatives, establishing maintenance schedules and ensuring schedule and all regulatory compliance

      • Assists with soliciting, selecting, and monitoring contractors and their activities

      • Maintains and controls an inventory of equipment, ensures budget adherence

      • Maintains an awareness of workplace hazards associated with Comunilife facilities and offices; works proactively to prevent and/or manage such hazards and any biohazards

      • Establishes and maintains sound process improvement initiatives that drive operations and maintenance improvement

      • Processes and oversees work orders using a web-based reporting system

      • Ensure compliance with multiple funding, programs, and audit requirements

      • Establish and maintain strong positive and productive working relationships, with an emphasis on positive and proactive problem-solving, with the staff of the program and other internal and external stakeholders and partners

      • Orient and train new staff; manage staff performance through performance appraisals and ongoing supervision

      • Complete required weekly and/or monthly reporting accurately and on time

      • Identify and address service delivery gaps; develop linkages as needed

      • Interface with building superintendents, property management staff, and others

      • Ensures careful vehicle fleet management, including maintenance, oversight, and careful tracking of use; maintains the ability to safely operation any Comunlife vehicle at any time

      • Perform other duties as required

      Qualifications

      • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED

      • At least one (1) year general maintenance work experience

      • Ability to meet physical demands of lifting, standing, driving a car, etc.

      • Valid NYS Driver’s License

      • Excellent oral and written communication skills; proficiency with MS Office and Google product suites

      • Bilingual skills in English/Spanish a plus
