Power Solutions > Aerodynamic & Mechanical > Gearbox
Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Within Vestas Power Solutions (VPS), you'll find our department, Gearbox, as part of Aerodynamic & Mechanical.
We, the Powertrain Development Team at Vestas Nacelles Deutschland, are based on the Campus of TU Dortmund. Our primary focus lies in the advancement of powertrain technologies and the exploration of innovative concepts for future wind turbine powertrains. With expertise in bearing, gear, and powertrain simulation technologies, our highly skilled team is committed to achieving excellence.
Our mission is to deliver top-notch, modularized powertrains that meet high quality standards, while adhering to strict timelines and cost considerations. We aim to be at the forefront of the industry, incorporating new technologies into our designs.
Responsibilities
The aim is to develop an evolutionary computing-based approach for designing gearboxes based on stiffness. Gear design typically prioritizes reliability and load-carrying capacity, while gear noise is evaluated through indirect parameters. The aim of this method is to support the early design phase by directly targeting key requirements for a efficient and low-noise gear design, such as transmission error. By employing evolutionary computing, the optimization of gear design can be facilitated, leading to faster results that meet the design criteria. The specific tasks involved in this project are as follows:
