What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct regular audits to verify accuracy of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier medical codes
- Review documentation to ensure appropriate code assignment and compliance with medical necessity requirements
- Identify coding inaccuracies and propose opportunities for improvement
- Maintain detailed records of audit findings and track coding errors
- Ensure adherence to coding guidelines and escalate compliance concerns as needed
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum of 3+ years of coding/auditing experience in a professional fee and/or risk adjustment setting
- CPC certification through AAPC or CCS certification through AHIMA
- Advanced knowledge of industry standard code sets and associated guidelines (ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS)
- Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare-related field
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience using data to drive root cause elimination and process improvement
- 3+ years of data analysis and formula creation in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with end-to-end project management in a fast-paced, high-tech environment
- Ability to identify and communicate trends in coding and documentation
