      Job summary

      Crown Street Surgery are looking to recruit a part time Medical Receptionist to support our current reception team.

      The hours will be:

      Mon 15:30 - 18:30

      Tues 15:30 - 18:30

      Wed 15:30 - 18:30

      Thurs 15:30 - 18:30

      Fri 11:30 - 17:30

      Total 18 hours per week.

      With flexibility to cover for annual / sick leave and PLT training

      The Medical Receptionist will be the focal point of communication between the patients, doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals and non clinical staff.

      The post holder should be able to work under pressure, maintain confidentiality at all times, be courteous and have excellent communication skills.

      Main duties of the job

      Main Duties if the role:

      Running of all aspects of the practice's reception function and maintaining a clean and tidy work station

      Adopting Care Navigation when signposting patients for appointments

      Answering general enquiries, booking appointments

      Keeping clear and concise documentation within the patient's clinical record

      Tagging and sorting of medical records

      Processing changes of names and addresses for patients on both clinical and paper records

      Ensuring all tasks received are completed in a timely manner

      To accompany GP's when a chaperone is required if applicable

      Locking up of the building in the evening and ensuring it is secure

      To participate in mandatory training

      About us

      We are a busy GP practice based in Swinton with over 9450 patients. Our clinical system is SystmOne.

      Our team consists of -

      1 GP partners, 2 salaried GP, 3 GP Locums, 2 ANPs, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 Nurse Associate, 1 HCA and a Phlebotomist. We also have a supportive admin and reception team.

      We work collaboratively with our PCN Wentworth 1 and we have additional ARRS staff which include: ACP, Paramedics, Social Prescribing Link Workers, Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Physiotherapists, Care Co-Ordinators, Mental Health Nurses.

      ACCOUNTABLE TO:Practice Manager

      JOB SUMMARY

      The Medical Receptionist will be the focal point of communication between the patients, doctors, and other clinical and non-clinical staff. This encompasses dealing with incoming calls from external organisations, the public and patients, dealing with queries, appointments, and reception desk cover. The role also has responsibility for dealing with incoming instructions tasks and other duties as identified daily.

      The post holder should be able to work under pressure, maintain confidentiality at all times, be courteous and patient and enjoy working with and for patients.

      PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

      Running of all aspects of the practice's reception function and always keeping the reception area clean and tidy.

      Adopting Care Navigation when signposting patients for appointments.

      Answering general enquiries, explaining surgery procedures, making new and follow-up appointments and receiving requests for repeat prescriptions.

      Keeping clear and concise documentation within patients clinical record.

      Distributing patient's records to Doctors and Nurses as required.

      Receiving and updating requests for home visits.

      Tagging and sorting the medical records.

      Processing changes of names and address via computer and changing on the front of patients medical records.

      Liaise with all Health Service Bodies and other outside agencies.

      Action and complete tasks as requested by GPs/Nurses etc.

      Check all instruction tasks are kept up to date on a daily basis.

      Care Navigation to signpost patients to receive the best care.

      Accompanying Doctors when chaperone is required.

      Check that any documents that are handed over reception are labelled correctly before the patient leaves the building.

      To undertake personal responsibility in respect of security, fire and Health and Safety.

      Closing up the building and setting the alarm for security.

      To cover for any other receptionist on annual/sick leave.

      To undertake duties as may be determined from time to time, commensurate with the range of activities described above.

      To participate in mandatory training requirements.

      Educated in English and Maths to GCSE A-C

      Customer service experience
