      What will you do? Repairs molds, tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges. Moves mold to work bench or work area with powered equipment. Trouble shoots and diagnoses problem. Refers to blueprints and sketches to obtain tooling requirements. Analyzes best method to make repair parts and repairs. Disassembles tooling in problem area with hand tools. Uses powered hoist. Assists in ordering parts through tool crib. Makes parts by operating machine tools. Installs and assembles new parts in tooling. Removes tooling from work area with powered equipment. Makes major alterations to, or builds new tooling of complicated design such as forming molds, jigs and fixtures, and gauges involving close limits and rigid tolerances. Refers to blueprints and sketches for tooling requirements. Makes sketches of parts. Determines most effective machining methods. Sets up and operates machine tools to fabricate parts. Assembles tooling completely as parts are made. Moves tooling with powered hoists. Set up completed tooling in production equipment with production set up employees. Observes tooling to make certain it operates correctly. Makes adjustments and completes rework of tooling when necessary to attain correct operation. Set up and operates machine tools to make repair or new parts. Performs such operations as milling, turning, drilling, grinding, sawing, pressing, EDM work, stoning and sanding. Maintains high degree of quality standards of precision work with close tolerances. Checks work with measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges, and coordinate measuring machine. Heat treats parts to attain required hardness of parts. Sets oven temperature according to specified information. Places parts in oven manually. Heats parts for specified length of time. Removes parts and quenches in water or oil. Repeats similar operations to temper parts in draw furnace. Wires thermocouples and disconnect plugs for runnerless manifold systems. Trouble shoots and diagnoses wiring problems with thermocouple temperature controller. What qualifications will make you successful? High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required Completion of approved apprenticeship program including specified classroom study required Mold Making Certification/Journeyman's Certificate Must be willing to work overtime English language proficiency (reading, writing, oral) is required What's in it for me?
