      Overview

      Halifax Health is seeking a Multi-Function Cashier/Barista for the France Tower Cafe.

      Summary

      This individual will prepare specialty coffee and tea beverages, smoothies, and frappes for customers, as requested. They will assist with cashiering and food preparation for France Tower Café and patient room service.

      Job Qualifications

      • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
      • Upscale retail food service, coffee bar, or hospitality background preferred.
      • Excellent written, verbal communication and customer service skills.
      • Good organization skills and ability to work within pre-defined time frames and deadlines.
      • Must have superior customer service skills and professional appearance.
      • Must be cheerful and outgoing with a helpful attitude. Previous customer service and/or cash handling experience helpful.
      • Accurate cash handling skills and the ability to calculate discounts and percentages.
      • Able to multi-task and to provide friendly, courteous customer service under pressure.

      Job Duties and Responsibilities

      • Makes smoothies, frappes, espresso, coffee, and tea drinks, both hot and cold, according to customer requests.
      • Stocks, cleans, and prepares beverage counter for service.
      • Cleans yogurt machine, coffee brewers, grinders, espresso machine, blenders, and other beverage making equipment continuously and at the end of shift.
      • Follows all food safety procedures including temperature logs, sanitizer logs, cleaning schedules, correct food storage, and date labeling.
      • Relieves cashier during breaks and peak times.
      • Assists with assembly and delivery of patient late trays.
      • Exhibits excellent customer service skills, team work, and ability to proactively solve problems with supervisor and teammates.
      • Operates cash register accurately and performs all related check out procedures in a friendly, efficient manner.
      • Adheres to policies and procedures and completes proper documentation, as necessary.
      • Greets customers; interacts positively and pleasantly with customers, visitors, co-workers, volunteers, and supervisors.
      • Maintains the neatness and security of the cash register area; ensures that forms, bags, and other similar items are adequately stocked.
      • During "down time" sweeps floors, cleans windows and display cases, dusts, and ensures that the front end of the store is maintained in a neat and orderly manner.
      • Displays and arranges merchandise as directed; checks displays to ensure that items are displayed in a neat and orderly manner.
