      SUMMARY

      Identifies and acts on areas of concern within the Fast Action & Solution Team (FAST) quality improvement process as part of the Quality Result Facilitation Team (QRFT), supporting North American Subaru, Inc. (NASI) Quality Assurance (QA).

      To achieve quality improvement, educates and motivates groups and individuals to create an improved or new process and utilizes knowledge to enhance current processes.

      Serves as a collaborative facilitator between Subaru of America (SOA) Service and NASI-QA in order to improve mutual understanding and create the best processes for both.

      PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Identifies and overcomes any blockers that would impede FAST activities. Develops, proposes, and reaches consensus on potential solutions. Takes ownership of the resulting project to achieve the desired solution.
      • Manages quality-related meetings such as Info Share Meeting, STARS (Status, Timeline, Action, Review, and Sharing) meeting, SOA/SCI (Subaru of America/Subaru of Canada, Inc.) FAST Management Meeting, etc. Serves as central liaison and focal point between multiple teams to coordinate and gather information for topics and prepare materials. Acts as project manager and uses meetings and available resources to ensure that tasks are progressing and that all necessary stakeholders are involved and properly informed.
      • Translates technical information from engineering perspective for non-technical team members. Develops communications for a variety of audiences to promote understanding. Decides who needs to be involved in communications and what advice and information they need.
      • Maintains responsibility for educating Japanese expats to understand the automotive business in the U.S. and Subaru field operations, including holding retailer visits to understand actual retailer environment and hear directly from the field. Gains trust of Japanese staff by sharing the SBR (Subaru Corporation) process/Japanese way of thinking with SOA/SCI to determine the best solution as a team.
      • Utilizes IT solution, vendors, tools, etc. to create better processes. Serves as project lead (on the QRFT team) for all IT-related projects and system enhancements including report creation, enhancements, and maintenance as well as improvements to reporting systems. Works in partnership with IT and other business stakeholders to define project objectives and deliverables and guide and oversee project priorities and timelines.
      • Manages and develops at least one (1) Specialist, including career development, performance evaluation, and hiring activities.

      ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Gathers information regarding automotive business in the U.S., including market trends to contribute to process/organization improvements.
      • Assist to resolve service issue between NASI-QA/SOA Service, Subaru Research & Development (SRD), and SOA/SCI.

      REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

      • Basic understanding of quality assurance programs such as TMS, Deming, PDCA, etc.
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong presentation skills.
      • Ability to multi-task and prioritize while working in a fast paced, team-based environment.
      • Excellent analytical skills and strong automotive technical background; Subaru experience preferred.
      • Excellent problem solving and root cause investigation skills.
      • Strong PC skills (including Microsoft Office with focus on Excel and Access), as well as ability to create and manage reports and databases.
      • Strong knowledge of all vehicle design, development, and manufacturing functional areas as well as understanding of and ability to work with other departments involved with product matters that affect short- and long-term quality and customer satisfaction issues.
      • Ability to mentor and train colleagues.
      • Ability to foster teamwork across organizations.
      • Ability to understand and work well with Japanese team members and environment and has initiative to gain knowledge of Japanese language/culture.

      WORK ENVIRONMENT & TRAVEL REQUIRED

      • Ability to drive automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
      • 10% travel (may include weekends and overseas travel)

      EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 4-year college degree (BA, BS) and 6-8 years' experience

      SALARY RANGE: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $86700 - $123800 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. (Internal grade: M1)
