Main duties of the job
The Board of Directors is legally responsible for the activities of CSH Surrey.
The Articles of Association for CSH Surrey (available on request) outline the structure of CSH Surrey, and the relationships with the CSH Guardian Trust, and the Voice.
Non-executive directors play a crucial role in bringing an independent perspective to the Board room in addition to any specific knowledge and skills they may have. Non-executive directors have a duty to uphold the highest standards of integrity and probity and to foster good relations in the board room. They should apply similar standards of care and skill in their role as a non-executive director as they would in similar roles elsewhere.
Non-executive directors are expected to participate fully as members of committees of the Board of Directors to which they are appointed and to take the role of Committee Chair when so appointed. There are currently six board committees that hold meetings throughout the year at varying frequencies. The Board also holds away days for strategy and other discussions, and non-executive directors may be asked to attend other meetings internal and external to CSH Surrey. Non-executive directors will also be expected to visit CSH teams and speak to colleagues, patients and their families: a DBS check will be required.
Applications will be apply via a covering letter and CV to csh.recruitment.team@nhs.net

About the company
National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
