      Location: WellSpan Health and Surgery Center 1227 Baltimore St. Hanover, PA 17331 / Will periodically cover at our Gettysburg office, also.

      Schedule: 1st Shift - Full Time - Days

      Under the general supervision of the Medical Director, the Manager-Noninvasive Cardiology and the department supervisor conducts routine telemetry monitored diagnostic cardiac stress testing procedures at an advanced skill and knowledge level. The RN in this role will collaborate with the Cardiology health care team to determine the best testing options for patients undergoing cardiac stress testing. Provides pre-test assessment, monitors patients during testing and has advanced knowledge of ECG interpretation and implementation of protocol driven interventions.

      Duties and Responsibilities

      1. Responsible for the oversight of ECG monitored cardiac stress tests based on approved testing protocols. Monitors patient hemodynamic status during stress testing.
      2. Safely & independently directs administration of medications during procedures according to standardized protocols and physician orders.
      3. Reviews patient history and risk stratification for stress testing to determine the appropriate level of supervision. Consults with a cardiologist as risk stratification indicates.
      4. Educates and responds to patient questions & concerns regarding stress test.
      5. Independently recognizes changes in patient condition related to cardiac stress testing & directs interventions based on assessment of patient. Initiates emergency action in response to acute risk situations.
      6. Follows radiation safety polices as outlined by York Hospitals Radiation Safety Committee.
      7. Maintains documentation in patient record as appropriate for the test and treatment rendered.
      8. Assists other RNs in the department with patient care and & daily tasks when needed.
      9. Notifies and collaborates with physician when further patient evaluation/intervention is needed.
      10. Seeks learning opportunities and resources beyond own work environment and incorporates into practice the new knowledge and skills acquired. Encouraged to share pertinent information and job knowledge, related to readings, educational programs and participation in professional organization activities.
      11. Actively promotes an environment conducive to professional practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and patient and staff safety. Supports Shared Decision-Making by unit and/or hospital-wide committee membership or by supporting and helping fellow co-workers attend committee meetings and/or work on SDM projects.

      Required Experience/Education

      • Notes:
        • Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered.
      • Minimum Experience:
        • 2-3 years of acute care experience, including: 1 year of Cardiology experience
      • Minimum Education:
        • Graduate of an Approved Nursing Program
      • Preferred Education:
        • Bachelors of Science, Nursing (BSN)
      • Required Certification:
        • Current RN license in PA AND ACLS certification AND Certification required within one-year of start date in Cardiac-Vascular Nursing certification from American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
      • Physical Demands:
        • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking
        • Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients
        • Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
